Colonial Beekeepers Nuc Program – providing Virginia bees to Virginia beekeepers!
We have club beekeepers in our program with the goal of producing nucs in 2013.

Nucs include:

  • 3 Frames of brood
  • 2 Frames of food stores
  • 1 Queen that laid the brood
  •  State Inspection

Prices:
Members

  • $80 for medium frame nuc
  • $90 for deep frame nuc

Non-members

  • $95 for medium frame nuc
  • $105 for deep frame nuc

Members Only
Over wintered nucs

  • $100 mediums
  • $110 deeps

We are hoping to have nucs ready for purchase in April 2013. Please contact our Nuc Coordinator if you are interested in purchasing bees next season.

  • As nucs become available, orders will be limited to two per individual until all other orders are complete. We'll then go through the list again to try and complete all orders.
  • The nuc beekeepers will contact you directly and make arrangements for pickup. Please bring appropriate equipment and protective clothing when you pick up your bees, as you will be inspecting your nuc at that time.
  • Buyer must contact seller and pickup nucs within 48 hours of notification of nuc being ready for pickup.
  • If you have questions or would like to be added to our current list, please contact:

In addition to the Colonial Beekeepers Association Program there are also other beekeepers in Virginia making an effort to provide local bees to Virginia Beekeepers. This list is several years old and so the prices have been removed. Best to contact the individual and check for availability and prices.

In response to requests from a number of beekeepers, Keith Tignor (Virginia State Apiarist) has supplied this lsit of individuals offering queens and NUC's for sale. The list includes sources within Virginia and from neighboring states. Beekeepers are encouraged to obtain queens and bees from local sources.
